The Concert Band, under the direction of Mr. Brandon Kandrack, is one of two performing ensembles at Norwin High School.  

The goal of the Concert Band is to introduce wind and percussion students to the fundamentals of ensemble playing, and continue to build skills developed in middle school.  

Skills taught in Concert Band include: proper tone production, blending sounds, intonation, rhythmic reading and understanding, articulation, phrasing, listening skills, and correct stylistic interpretation of the given literature.  

The Concert Band rehearses daily for one hour from November until May and prepares wind band literature for performances at the Winter Concert in February, the Spring Concert in May, and a PMEA Music Performance Assessment in the spring.  

The Concert Band usually performs grade 3 wind band literature.
